Nobody particularly likes rules so you can call them guidelines, or even things we'd rather you did/didn't do, if you prefer but if you want to jam with us it is important that you stick to them;
NOT A CLUB
Urban Athletics is not a club and there are no fees! For example, we don't charge membership for training or insurance cover etc. We get together and do what we do because we love doing it. You are welcome to come and jam with us but remember that you do so at your own risk.
BE SAFE
Please be careful - as with any physical activity you could be injured. We don't want anyone to get hurt simply because they didn't take enough care. You should never jump or climb on to or off of anything you haven't checked out first. Urban Athletics does not advocate climbing or jumping from high or dangerous places.
Don't act without thinking. Even when it seems freerunning is safe, when you think you know what your'e doing, there's always someone that's ready to get in your way! Plan what you do before you do it and don't try something that you are not ready for.
NO DAMAGE
Never damage your environment: the city is our playground so don't destroy it! For example, if your impact on something will damage it, then don't use it. There's always something or somewhere else. Look after your training ground.
HAVE RESPECT
Have respect for yourself, other members and most importantly other people: If asked to "move on" then do so: never answer back or argue - it isn't necessary! Just a simple "Ok" and leave. We want people to respect our art-forms.
Remember: When we are out jamming we not only represent UA, but we represent the whole PK/FreeRun community. We want people to see that what we do is something worth doing, that offers something new and interesting to our communities.
To get respect you have to give and earn it.
LANGUAGE
Remember we have younger members with us when we train and members of the public are watching and listening. Keep bad language to a minimum: we'd rather that people don't go home with new colourful expressions and bad opinions of us!
BE OPEN MINDED
Don't put down anyone's style of training just because it differs to yours - your style of training is not the only way. It's just a different flavour.
KEEP IT FRESH
When you stop learning, you lose the buzz. So, it is important to keep trying to improve; learning new stuff and refining your skills.
Ask other members for help. Even better, as we learn so much when we teach, support others when you can. That's how we all began.
HAVE FUN
Never forget the reason behind what we do. Keep it fresh and enjoy your training!
